Key findings
In 2023, victim support organisations counted 248 attacks of right-wing and racist motivation against at least 380 persons in Saxony. This is an increase of 21% compared to 2022. Both offenders and victims have become younger of age over the years. More than half of the incidents (n = 129) had racist motives, including anti-Muslim, anti-Roma and anti-Black racism. This is an increase of 36% compared to 2022.
Methodology (Qualitative/Quantitative and exact type used, questionnaires etc)
Quantitative (statistics on incidents, unofficial data)
Sample details and representativeness
Organisations count incidents based on directly affected individual, friends/family/community, cooperations and networking partners, unambiguous police reports, unambiguous press reports, monthly 'minor inquiries' (Kleine Anfragen) at the state parliament (Landtag). incidents are included in the statistics as soon as enough information is gathered in the case (regarding the perpetrator's motives, the kind of violence etc.)
